Podilymbus Gigas:

What is a podilymbus gigas?
This animal has many names such as:
  • Atitlan Grebe
  • Giant Grebe
  • Giant Pied-billed Grebe
  • Atitlán Grebe
This is a type of duck which lived in a freshwater lake called Lake Atitlán in Guatemala. Sadly this animal was declared extinct already because of the appearance of large-mouth bass Micropterus salmoides, that inscreased pressure on breeding sites from local reed-cutting and from tourism development. According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List it's definitely extinct at some time between 1983 and 1986. So, this species got extinct by the basic characteristics of extinction:
  • No more avaliability of reproducing.
  • The death of the last member of the species.
And much more like these.
